Snorkel 86-10 | 1964 Peter Pirsch Chassis Pitman Snorkel 85' Aerial

Designated as "Snorkel 86" this unit is a 1964 Peter Pirsch with an 85' Pitman Snorkel Aerial. Purchased new with an open cab design the snorkel is equipped with a full complement of truck company equipment including a 55' bangor ladder, along with harnesses and ropes for specialized rescue. The Snorkel's 85' articulating boom has made it an invauluable asset for the RBVFC over its many years of serivice helping to reach the tall buildings along the boardwalk and throughout the district, also equipped with a portable hydrant the Snorkel could be supplied water from and engine and conduct aerial master stream operations getting water above the fire. The Snorkel's last fire response was in 2019. However, the aerial is still inspected each year and is in excellent working order, although now used mainly as a show / pardade peice and to hoist the American flag over Rehoboth Ave on holidays and funerals. The Snorkel has been in service with the RBVFC for 61 years. (2025)
